Job Description

The Senior Financial Accountant assists with the financial accounting and reporting of the company’s investment advisor business and related entities. This role will provide analytical and accounting support to the team and management relating to the preparation, review and analysis of the corporate-level financial information in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Essential Duties:

  1. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and other financial reports for management reporting.
  2. Review budget to actual results for all fee revenue and G&A expenses and advise management of trends.
  3. Prepare and analyze quarterly/annual financial statements including supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
  4. Prepare financial presentations and/or variance explanations for management review.
  5. Prepare work papers and ensure the fulfillment of financial reporting requirements for external and internal audits and tax accountants. Informs management as to any discrepancies or any other problem areas that may exist that arise from the audit.
  6. Responsible for the set-up, review, and reporting of all corporate fixed assets, including Right Of Use (ROU) assets and liabilities.
  7. Oversee and prepare monthly cash transfers for regional office lease and related payments.
  8. Maintains schedule and prepares monthly amortization of the company’s prepaid expenses.
  9. Interact with internal and external customers, other accounting team members, asset managers, property managers and all necessary departments to ensure prompt resolution of issues and achieve maximum efficiency of operations.
  10. Plan, prioritize and coordinate tasks, ensuring deadlines are met.
  11. Assist with special projects and other related duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA is preferred
  • 3+ yrs. Accountant level experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude, strong attention to detail and deadline oriented.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, while being flexible, adaptable, and having fun.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and positively with all levels of employees, executives, and third-party personnel.
  • Must be willing to work on-site and show proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or request and receive an authorized exemption)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Commercial Real Estate accounting experience
  • Real estate accounting software or Yardi experience
  • 3+ yrs. experience in a recent Corporate Accountant role; heavy financial reporting experience
  • Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
